The history of Remembrance Day dates back to the end of World War I in 1918, when Great Britain and its allies observed a day to remember those who had lost their lives in battle. Over time, other countries around the world also began observing this day, with November 11 as the chosen date due to its significance in relation to Armist.
Today, we remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. Whether they were soldiers on the front lines or civilians caught in the crossfire, their lives were cut short too soon. We honor them by keeping their memories alive and spreading the message of hope and peace that they fought so hard to achieve.
While there are many ways to show your appreciation for those who have served, perhaps the simplest way is through small gestures like sending a card or sharing a story. You could also make a donation to organizations that support veterans and their families, volunteer in your community, or simply take the time to say thank you.

Then let us pray that come it may
— as come it will for all that,
that ‘Sense’ and ‘Worth’ o’er all the earth
shall have ‘First-place’ and all that.
For all that, and all that,
It’s coming yet for all that,
that man to man the world o’er
shall brothers be for all that.
Robert Burns 1759 – 1796
